Sam Darnold Cleared For Non-Contact Drills
5 years agoNew York Jets head coach Adam Gase said that quarterback Sam Darnold (illness) has been cleared for non-contact drills this week, but he still has not lifted, ran or thrown a ball since contracting mononucleosis. Darnold still has a lot of hurdles to clear before he can play in Week 5 against the Eagles. At this point, he might be on the wrong side of questionable, so he's no lock to return after the team's bye. Philly's injured and soft secondary is an attackable matchup, but Darnold would still be a shaky QB2 for fantasy owners if he makes his return. If he cannot get the green light, third-stringer Luke Falk would get another start. Those that own the Jets skill players really hope Falk isn't out there again.
