Kyle Allen Expected To Start In Week 5
5 years agoCarolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said that he expects quarterback Kyle Allen to start in Week 5 against the Jaguars. There is still no timetable for Cam Newton (foo) to return. In a good matchup with Houston's vulnerable secondary, Allen wasn't very impressive, going 24-for-34 (70.6 percent) with no touchdowns or interceptions. He also fumbled three times. Allen and the Panthers will face a more difficult test in Week 5 against Jacksonville, especially if shutdown cornerback Jalen Ramsey (back, illness) returns to action. Allen will be a low-end QB2 option for that matchup. Those that own Newton must remain patient and keep him stashed, but you obviously need to have a long-term plan at the position in case he misses the rest of the season.
