Kemba Walker 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoKemba Walker presents yet another star face in a new place entering 2019-20. Ahead of fantasy draft season, it’s imperative to remember that Walker now calls Boston home, a move that on the surface, should lead to a slight downturn in production. Walker was the unquestioned heart of the Hornets’ franchise, especially over the past three seasons. In an effort to get the team to the postseason last year, Walker piled up 27.2 points per game after the All-Star break, while having fired up 20 or more shots in 15 of 25 second-half contests. While Walker may have been providing a glimpse into his new extended offensive arsenal, the more probable reality is that the cast of youthful stars in Boston are likely to see their fair share of shots, which could limit Walker’s scoring average after years of needing to be a one-man army for Charlotte. On the flip side, Walker, who has averaged between 5.1 and 6.1 assists in each of the past seven seasons, could be in line for an increase in that column with Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward and Jaylen Brown flanking him. Irrespective of who he shares the court with, there exists the possibility of Walker transforming into an All-NBA talent, as Isaiah Thomas (28.9 PPG) did under head coach Brad Stevens back in 2016-17.
