Clint Capela 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoHouston Rockets center Clint Capela had a Jekyll and Hyde season in 2018-19, posting multiple career-highs during the regular season before becoming a liability in the playoffs. Capela had 45 double-doubles in 67 regular-season games, averaging 16.6 points and 12.7 rebounds, but he managed only 9.7 points during the postseason and struggled mightily in the Western Conference semifinals against Golden State. The failure to perform against the Warriors catapulted Capela into trade rumors, so the front office was clearly unhappy with what they saw. Luckily for the Swiss big man, the Rockets ended up taking him off the market and that sets him up for another successful regular season in 2019-20. Russell Westbrook has joined the gang, so Capela now gets another guy who is capable of feeding him with alley-oop passes all night long. At 25, Capela is still on the young side and after seeing him improve every season so far, there's no reason to think that his game will stagnate. He has gone from a below 40 percent free throw shooter to a guy that can hit close to 65 percent of his freebies, which points to the fact that he's a dedicated player and a hard worker.
