LaMarcus Aldridge 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoSteady production has been the name of LaMarcus Aldridge’s game throughout his career, which holds even more weight when considering that the 34-year-old is coming off a season in which he shot a career-best 51.9 percent from the floor. Aldridge’s fourth season in San Antonio was dynamic – he averaged 9.2 rebounds per game, his highest mark since arriving from Portland at the start of the 2015-16 year. Even with the big man having accrued 81 regular-season starts in addition to a trip to the postseason, he closed the year with double-doubles in four of his final five games. DeMar DeRozan’s arrival last season failed to hamper Aldridge’s production in the slightest. Having embraced the center position, Aldridge has carved out a niche in the San Antonio offense, compiling 26 games of at least 25 points last season, including a career-high 56-point effort. His age will cause some owners to pause, but Aldridge has proven remarkably consistent during his 13-year career with no signs of slowing. The Spurs’ big man is as steady of an early-round pick as there is, albeit one with a lower than ceiling than many other performers who will go off the board just before and after him.
