Austin Ekeler, Justin Jackson To Share The Load
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running backs Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson will share the backfield work with Melvin Gordon's contract holdout seeping into the regular season. Change-of-pace back Ekeler will get the start, and you can expect second-year back Jackson to also get touches against the Colts. "I've always used those guys as a tandem," head coach Anthony Lynn said. "That's not going to change. We're going to put guys in good positions to do what they do best." Ekeler averaged 5.2 yards per carry on 106 attempts as Gordon's backup last year and is the more attractive fantasy option as a low-end RB2. The Chargers passed 58.3 percent of the time when Gordon didn't play last year, so both Ekeler's and Jackson's chances could be limited in Week 1.
