5 years agoChicago Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel (knee) threw his second bullpen session on Thursday and could rejoin the team soon. Manager Joe Maddon said he expects the team to decide on Friday whether Kimbrel will make any rehab appearances or be activated from the injured list. Reliever Steve Cishek is expected to throw a bullpen session over the weekend and is optimistic he'll return as soon as Tuesday. Brandon Kintzler (pectoral) is also expected to be activated on Friday. With Kimbrel out, Pedro Strop has worked as the fill-in closer in the short term.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
