Alshon Jeffery 2019 Player Outlook: Inconsistent, High-Upside Red Zone Target
5 years agoAlshon Jeffery has gone through his ups and downs, and he has every opportunity this year to have another “up”. He’s supposedly as healthy as he’s ever been, Wentz is healthy, and there are plenty of other weapons to distract defenses in the red zone. He’s caught 15 touchdowns over the last two years in Philadelphia and could get to double-digits in a perfect world. That’s the positive way to look at things. The negative points to Jeffery playing just one full season since 2014 and posting a sub 60% catch rate with Carson Wentz at the helm. Ertz caught 116 passes in 2018, and we know Wentz loves feeding the TE. If Jeffery can become the favorite target of Wentz, the sky is the limit. Jeffery is currently being drafted as WR28 with an 8.2 ADP. I don’t hate him in the eighth round, but would rather a Corey Davis or Robby Anderson with higher upside two rounds later.
