Welcome to the Sunday, August 4th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 4th. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- Sprinkle some pixie dust on Aaron Sanchez. Poof! No-hitter?! Astros are the masters of The Prestige!
- Domingo German enters 14-win club. Why only 85% owned? Still some reservations?
- Andrew Benintendi joins the party, fashionably late w/ 5HR, 13RBI, .375AVG in last 15 days.
- DJ Lemehieu has power for two HR? Yep, 17-worth on the year.
- In the event of a fantasy roster w/Chris Sale, oxygen masks will drop down. Secure your mask first before helping others.
- Rafael Devers w/433ft rainbow(22). Yep, still leading majors in # of balls hit 95+mph, handily(180).
- Gleyber Torres w/two-HR game. Not impressed? Wait til Camden & Rogers Centre visits later this week.
- Craig Kimbrel up to nine SV. Who has the last laugh now?
- Rubbing salt into the wound. Nick Anderson gets W vs. old team.
- Emilio Pagan w/two SV in last four games. Things are settled, for yesterday.
- Eric Sogard w/two thunderous “Who Questions The Rays?!” 12HR, 303AVG this year.
- Jon Jay batting cleanup for the ChiSox. Oh boy. Stream against them.
- Bryce Harper(19) & Rhys Hoskins(24) homer in same game. Wow. Just like we planned it four months ago.
- Aaron Nola was bored mowing hitters down. 7IP, 2ER, 10K. He’s the greatest! eh eh. Don’t say it. It’s not his fault the ChiSox sent out their B-team.
- Marcus Stroman excites in first outing as a Met. 4.1IP, 3ER, 2BB, 3K. Oooh-wee! Too hot!
- Mr. Marte. Mr. Starling Marte, your deluxe combo meal is ready (20th HR, 15&16th SB).
- Chris Archer only allowed one run?! Test him.
- Edwin Diaz, you’re only supposed to give up two runs in save situations. Stop wasting this goodness.
- Bo Bichette w/six-game hitting streak…to start his major league career.
- Freddy Galvis loves him some Camden. two-straight games w/tater(18). One more on Sunday?
- Trey Mancini (26th HR) treats Pannone to a 405ft Panini. Hahaha. No? Dad joke of the day = Check.
- 18HR, 4SB, .304AVG, 2.5WAR from 2B? Damn. That’s pretty good. Oh, that’s Jose Altuve. I’m supposed to be down on him, right?
- Mallex Smith reaches 30SB. He’ll lead majors soon if Adalberto Mondesi stays on IL.
- 39-year-old Nelson Cruz steps to the plate, age & wisdom clearly expressed in his focus. Doubters everywhere. Lazy bandwagon-jumpers get ownership to 91%. THUNDER!!! 3HR, 5RBI. The simplicity amuses him. For us who believed, we thank you.
- Jorge Polanco power reviving but average is sliding. Rockin’ steady w/you.
- Francisco Lindor is awesomeness. Back in the first round for 2020. Those who stubbornly drafted him in top-five. Celebratory dance in 3…2…1.
- Uh oh. Shane Greene blows save(surprised?). Luke Jackson to the rescue for the W.
- Aristides Aquino w/first monster jam of career. Keep an eye on him.
- Trevor Bauer stutter steps. 4.2IP, 3ER, 3B, 4K. Cubs won’t provide any better welcome mat.
- Ozzie Albies in two-spot. Two SB. Thank you.
- Rougned Odor’s 20HR great in non-AVG leagues(.212).
- Matthew Boyd will endure Tigers misery. 5.2IP, 2ER, 9K.
- Stephen Strasburg owners (4.2IP, 9ER, 7K). Breath slowly into the brown paper bag. Hey, you in the corner…ok, fine, put it on your head.
- Let’s not overlook Anthony Rendon’s 24HR. It will be the quietest 30-homer season.
- Eduardo Escobar uses 41%Chase rate to chase these 24HR, 88RBI. Hot Damn!
- You know Charlie Blackmon’s back. HR(22) in Coors. Trevor Story joins w/24.
- Dakota Hudson 32% ownership. C’mon people. The wins were good while they lasted. Don’t ride the Titanic all the way down.
