Eric Lauer Can't Survive Three Frames
5 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Eric Lauer was awful on Thursday, lasting just 2 1/3 innings against the New York Mets. It was death by a thousand cuts for Lauer who yielded six hits and three walks that led to four earned runs. Lauer has been volatile this season, with both spectacular starts and forgettable clunkers. He stares at a 4.58 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 7.3 K/9 through 19 starts. Given the Padres young staff, Lauer will likely remain on the rotation but nothing is guaranteed past 2019. Lauer demonstrated pedestrian stuff through two seasons and with a pitching revamp projected in 2020, it’s possible he loses his spot. At best, the 24-year-old is a matchup-based streamer in fantasy.
