Jadeveon Clowney Likely To Remain Absent Into Training Camp
6 years agoHouston Texans outside linebacker/defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who has yet to sign his $15.967 million franchise tender, sat out of mandatory minicamp this week. League sources say he is expected to miss the entire offseason and at least a portion of training camp before likely reporting prior to the start of the regular season. Both sides have until July 15 to reach a long-term deal, but sources say no deal is imminent and negotiations aren't active. Nothing is expected to change with Clowney's status at this time even though senior vice president of football administration Chris Olsen is now in charge of football operations after the firing of general manager Brian Gaine last week. Clowney has an extensive injury history but has 18.5 sacks and three forced fumbles in the last two years. He's a risk/reward IDP selection.
