Michael Pineda Activated, Devin Smeltzer Sent Down
6 years agoThe Minnesota Twins activated starting pitcher Michael Pineda (knee) from the 10-day injured list on Friday and optioned starter Devin Smeltzer to Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move. Pineda returns from right knee tendinitis and will start against the Tigers on Friday. He's gone 4-3 with a 5.34 ERA with 11 walks and 50 strikeouts in 59 innings this year. Pineda had been pitching well before being sidelined and should be in starting lineups in a great matchup. Smeltzer had a 3.65 ERA with three walks and nine strikeouts in two starts (12 1/3 innings) for the Twins. He should be back up later this year and will be a worth streaming candidate in deeper leagues, depending on the matchup.
