Taywan Taylor 2019 Outlook: Fourth in Line
6 years agoTaywan Taylor is fourth in the pecking order for pass catchers in Tennessee. The problem with this is with Marcus Mariota at quarterback fourth is not a good place to be. With Corey Davis as the number one, and rookie AJ Brown coming into the number two role from Ole Miss, Taylor’s stock is sliding quick. They will also have Delanie Walker back this season, and even at his age, he will be the security blanket when Mariota gets in trouble.
Derrick Henry is going to get a lot more work this season then he has in his first few years with the Titans. With Marcus Mariota already being a low volume passer averaging only 451 attempts in the past two seasons, the likelihood of Taylor being a viable option in fantasy becomes even less clear to see.
As the clear and away number two in 2018 Taylor still only compiled 466 yards and one touchdown on 37 receptions in 13 games. Given he has fallen on the depth chart this offseason these numbers would represent his ceiling in 2019. Last season, these numbers were good enough for a paltry WR84 finish. In case you cannot do the math, this means as the WR2 on his own team he finished as the last of the WR6's for fantasy. Not a good return on investment if you ask me. And again, this represents his ceiling for 2019. The Titans pass offense is a mess, Corey Davis is an O.K. pick now that he has fallen to the ninth round of drafts and AJ Brown is a good dynasty pick or a flier in the 14th or 15th round of fantasy drafts. As for Taylor? Leave him alone and go with better flier options in your drafts. Marqise Lee or Kenny Stills should be there, and both are much better options.
