Jon Duplantier To Make First Start Friday
6 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Jon Duplantier will make his first major league start on Friday against the Mets. The 24-year-old right-hander is the team's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he's allowed three runs while walking five and striking out 12 in 12 relief innings over five appearances at the major league level this year. He hasn't been as good at Triple-A Reno in six starts, however, posting a 4.76 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 10.1 K/9 along with 13 walks in 17 frames. If he can keep the walks to a minimum in his first major league start, he could be effective against New York. Duplantier will be risky as a streamer but should be in consideration in deeper leagues. If he pitches well, he could stick in the rotation.
