Astros Receive Encouraging News On Jose Altuve
6 years agoHouston Astros manager A.J. Hinch said the team received "encouraging" news on second baseman Jose Altuve (hamstring, knee) after it was announced that he had a setback on his rehab assignment. Altuve will need some time to "strengthen his lower half," Hinch said. Altuve won't be able to return from the injured list later this week now, but he might not be out all that much longer. The good news is that his hamstring is healed. Altuve already has nine home runs this season, but he may continue to disappoint in the steals category as he deals with lower-body issues. With Aledmys Diaz (hamstring) also out, Jack Mayfield will see starts at second base until Altuve is ready to make his return.
