Yankees Hope James Paxton Can Pitch Against Padres
6 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher James Paxton (knee) was able to throw a side session, do long toss and pitcher's fielding practice on Sunday, and manager Aaron Boone is hoping that Paxton can make a start against the Padres this week. Paxton has been out since May 3 and still felt some soreness in his knee in extended spring training last Friday, so he'll be more risky than usual if he makes his first start off the injured list against the Padres either Tuesday or Wednesday. The left-hander has been good overall this year before his injury, going 3-2 with a 3.11 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 52 K's in 37 2/3 innings over his seven starts.
