Chris Sale Hindered By Errors Friday
6 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale lasted six innings Friday, allowing four runs, only two of which were earned, in a 4-3 loss to Houston. Sale punched out five and walked two, while also surrendering his 10th home run of the year. The southpaw threw just 56 of 89 pitches for strikes, including just seven swinging strikes. The Astros benefited from Boston errors in the second and fourth innings, which pushed them out to an early 3-0 lead. It wasn't a bad start by any means, but it was a return to earth for the 30-year-old, after posting a 69:11 K:BB with just 10 earned runs over his past six starts. His record sits at 1-6, but five of those losses came in the first month of the season, when the Sox were struggling as a team. He'll get the Indians Wednesday, where he'll have the chance to get back to double-digit strikeouts and should be a popular DFS option.
