Josh Naylor Hitting Sixth In Major League Debut
6 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Josh Naylor is serving as the designated hitter and is batting sixth on Friday in his major league debut against Blue Jays starting pitcher Trent Thornton. The 21-year-old was hitting .299/.378/.538 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI in 45 games for Triple-A El Paso before his call-up. He's a short-term option in deep mixed and NL-only leagues. There's a good chance the Friars send him back to the minors when they finish up their road trip with the Blue Jays and Yankees. He's San Diego's No. 9 prospect, per MLB Pipeline.
