Shohei Ohtani Launches First Homer Of 2019
6 years agoLos Angeles Angels designated hitter Shohei Ohtani homered off of Twins starter Jose Berrios Monday night. It was Ohtani's first long ball of the season after launching 22 last year. In 2018 he batted .285 with a .564 slugging percentage and even threw in 10 stolen bases for good measure once it was determined he was finished pitching for the season. Last season the Angels sat Ohtani against most lefties as he had a .654 OPS compared to 1.043 vs righties. Despite Angels management saying he won't be part of a platoon this season, it's fair to wonder how they handle his playing time as he recovers from Tommy John surgery in an attempt to pitch in 2020. Still, Ohtani is potentially a five-category contributor who should be owned in all formats and started for the foreseeable future as the Angels are scheduled to face righties in their next four games.
