Jay Bruce Swats Homer To Enter Double Digits
6 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder/first baseman Jay Bruce clubbed his 10th home run of the season off of Indians starter Shane Bieber on Friday. The power has been excellent to see return to form for the veteran, but it has come at the cost of an abysmal .189 batting average. Power-hungry fantasy owners in deep leagues should entertain the idea of Bruce occupying a roster spot, but his drain in average could be detrimental to a shallow league squad. Expect Bruce to continue to post solid home run and RBI numbers this season, but his alarming 32 percent strikeout rate suggests that the average will remain around the Mendoza line.
