Marco Gonzales Masterful In Near Complete Game
6 years agoSeattle Mariners starter Marco Gonzales was terrific in Tuesday's win over the Angels. The lefty tossed 8 1/3 innings, giving up four hits and a walk while striking out three batters as he improved to 3-0 on the young season. Gonzales retired 17 in a row at one point during the game, as he kept hitters off balance and produced a lot of soft contact. He doesn't have a big strikeout arm, but he is superb at pitching to contact, making him an every-week starter at this point. Gonzales will make his next appearance against the Royals in Kansas City next week and will be a good option in that contest, as the team is batting just .214 against southpaws so far on the season.
