Justin Verlander Named Opening Day Starter
6 years agoHouston Astros manager A.J. Hinch named starting pitcher Justin Verlander as the team's Opening Day starter for March 28 against the Rays. Gerrit Cole will go in Game 2. Verlander, 36, has been rejuvenated in Houston and went 16-9 with a 2.52 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 290 K's in 214 innings (34 starts) in 2018. The seven-time All-Star and former Cy Young, MVP and Rookie of the Year remains a top-10 fantasy starter and fantasy ace as long as he continues to stay healthy and mow hitters down at an impressive rate.
