Brian Dozier Agrees With Nationals
6 years agoThe Washington Nationals agreed to a one-year, $9 million deal with free-agent second baseman Brian Dozier on Thursday, according to league sources. Dozier had a down year in 2018, hitting .215/.305/.391 in 553 at-bats between the Twins and Dodgers, but he still managed 21 home runs, 72 RBI, 81 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. He lost playing time late in the year with the Dodgers because of his offensive struggles, but he could bounce back with Washington in 2019 and offers decent power and some speed at the keystone. Look to him as a potential value pick in the middle rounds. His presence is bad news for veteran Howie Kendrick, who will likely serve in a utility role.
