Raiders Want To Get Amari Cooper Going
6 years agoOakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden wants to get wide receiver Amari Cooper going after his Week 1 dud against the Rams in which he caught just one pass on three targets for nine yards. "You look at the film, we had him wide open deep," Gruden said Wednesday of Cooper. "We didn't go there. He was open a couple of times, and for whatever reason we didn't go that route. Yeah, we want to get him going. That's easier said than done now." Cooper is tough to rely on going into Week 2 against Denver's stingy secondary of Chris Harris Jr. and Bradley Roby. Cooper has had nine receiving yards or less in six of his last 13 games. In Week 1 against LA, quarterback Derek Carr completed only five passes on seven targets to his receivers for 43 yards.
