Jon Gruden Thinks Martavis Bryant Can Be Difference-Maker
6 years agoOakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said he thinks wide receiver Martavis Bryant, who the team re-signed on Tuesday, can be a difference-maker for the team. "Well, I think one of the reasons he was outperformed was he was inconsistently available," Gruden said. "He was sick, he had lingering problems. But I think he's in a really good place right now ... and when he's in a really good place, he can be a really good player in this league. He's proven that." Bryant is a deep threat that could open up underneath routes for both Amari Cooper and Jordy Nelson, but Bryant is still facing a possible year-long suspension for a violation of the NFL's substance-abuse policy. It's unclear what Bryant's role will be in Week 2 against the Broncos or if he'll even be active, so fantasy owners can avoid him for now.
