Tyler Mahle Bumping Homer Bailey From Rotation
6 years agoCincinnati Reds manager Jim Riggleman announced on Friday that starting pitcher Tyler Mahle will take Homer Bailey's spot in the rotation to close out the year. Neither pitcher has been very good this year, but Mahle definitely has more upside. He's gone 7-9 with a 4.95 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 8.7 K/9 in 22 starts, while the veteran Bailey is an ugly 1-14 with a 6.09 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and just 75 K's in 106 1/3 innings over 20 starts. Mahle is only a streaming option in the right matchups in NL-only affairs.
