Sergio Romo Earns 18th Save Wednesday
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Sergio Romo continued his fine recent work Wednesday versus the Royals. He allowed two hits but still held Kansas City scoreless over an inning to close out the 6-3 victory. The save was his 18th of the season. Romo not only has saved 18 but he opened five games this season. Romo will continue to be worth owning in most leagues that reward saves as long as he retains his closing job. The biggest threat to his position will be if the Rays turn their attention to the future. If they choose to get a look at their future, young arms like Jose Alvarado could take over the job.
