Bilal Powell Leads Way For Jets Backfield
6 years agoNew York Jets running back Bilal Powell carried six times for 17 yards in Thursday's preseason loss in Washington, and he added two receptions for 20 yards. He and Thomas Rawls were the first two backs into the game, as Isaiah Crowell (head) was out after suffering a head injury in the preseason opener. Rawls ran eight times for just 12 yards. George Atkinson also shined with some of the biggest plays in the game, ripping off an 18-yard run while also posting a 30-yard catch-and-run play from quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in the second half. Atkinson is simply fighting for a roster spot and isn't a fantasy target. Crowell and Powell will be the top dogs in the backfield and are solid fantasy contributors. Atkinson could have done enough Thursday to push Rawls closer to the door. Rawls is believed to be on the bubble to make the team.
