Baker Mayfield Making Consistent Progress
6 years agoCleveland Browns rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield continues to impress the coaching staff after one week in the preseason. “He’s made consistent progress, and that’s a good sign,” offensive coordinator Todd Haley said Wednesday before the 15th practice of training camp. “But, for his first game, he had an opportunity to get out there and run around and throw the football, and I thought for the most part he made good decisions and made some real good plays.” Mayfield's stock continues to rise, but it's clear that Tyrod Taylor will start the year as the team's quarterback. However, if Mayfield continues to impress in the preseason, Taylor's leash will be shorter if he struggles out of the gates. Mayfield has a great chance to see starts in his rookie year but is still more of a dynasty asset than redraft target.
