Dede Westbrook 2018 Player Outlook: Will He See Opportunity To Flash Big-Play Ability?
6 years agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Dede Westbrook heads into his sophomore season as the team's No. 4 option on the depth chart behind Marqise Lee, Donte Moncrief, and Keelan Cole. In addition to those established veterans, the Jaguars also used a second-round draft pick on D.J. Chark, who has better draft capital and is more explosive than Westbrook. Westbrook missed the first nine games of his rookie season following core muscle surgery but he showed glimpses of his big-play ability upon returning to the team. Overall, Westbrook caught 27 passes for 339 yards and one touchdown in seven games. While he is an explosive player, it is hard to see him getting enough targets to make a huge impact in fantasy in 2018. The Jaguars want to be a run-first offense and their elite defense should help them stay out of negative, pass-happy game scripts. Westbrook can be drafted as a late-round flier but he will probably need an injury to one of the receivers ahead of him to make an impact this season.
