Randall Cobb 2018 Outlook: Back To Packers WR2
6 years agoIt seems like it was a long time ago, but 2014 was just four seasons ago. So, it’s only been four seasons since Aaron Rodgers supported the WR3 and WR8 in one season. In 2014, Randall Cobb was that WR8 as Rodgers WR2 that season while hauling in 91 catches for 1287 yards and 12 touchdowns. Now that Jordy Nelson, who was the WR3 that season, is off to Oakland, Cobb is back to being Rodgers second target.
Nelson and Martellus Bennett leave behind 126 targets for Cobb to take a shot at and considering that Cobb was second on the team in targets with 92 last season, it’s easy to see both him and Adams getting more than 100 targets in 2018. We’ve seen this offense put together fantastic fantasy seasons for multiple players in the past, but Cobb has disappointed owners the past few seasons and sometimes it can be tough to come back from that.
In 2016, Adams and Nelson combined for 2,254 yards and 26 touchdowns. Rodgers does have Jimmy Graham in the fold as well now, but he has lost a step and isn’t the same player that was a top fantasy asset for the Saints a few years ago. Cobb is still only 27 years old and if anything were to happen with Adams, Cobb will see a huge increase in value.
