Cam Newton 2018 Outlook: A QB1 Risk Worth Taking
6 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is coming off a bounce-back season that saw him finish as the overall QB2, but his career record is muddied by a series of up-and-down years over the past four seasons. Health is always a concern with Newton as well. In 2017, Newton posted his highest interception percentage since his rookie season but made his fantasy impact by running the ball a career-high 139 times. If that number regresses back down, Newton could see his fantasy stock drop, but it's worth noting that he's only missed three games in his seven NFL seasons as most of his injury issues have been minor enough to play through. With an ADP among quarterbacks that currently ranks outside of the top five, Newton could be a steal on draft day as long as fantasy owners aren't concerned by the recent trend of his overall finish. Expect a healthy Newton to put up top-five QB numbers again now that he has some new receivers at his disposal.
