6 years agoThe San Diego Padres are making a "big push" to land Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer. However, any potential deal looks like a long shot because his team-friendly deal pays him just $7.5 million next year with club options for 2021 and 2022. The Padres would have to part with several young prospects in order to land him. Archer has dealt with injuries this year and has been up and down, but he's still striking out 9.9 hitters per nine innings and had a season-high 13 punchouts his last time out. He'd certainly help bolster San Diego's pitching staff for at least the next several seasons.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
