Carlos Hyde 2018 Outlook: New City, New Backfield
6 years agoCarlos Hyde has departed from San Francisco and has joined the Cleveland Browns this off-season and will head a very crowded backfield. Hyde is joined by Duke Johnson Jr. and the newly drafted Nick Chubb in the Browns' backfield. The Browns did give Hyde a decent sized contract before the draft pick of Chubb, so Hyde should be given the starting gig from the beginning of the season.
Hyde has finished as a top-15 running back in each of the past two seasons, and should have a decent chance to achieve that once again with Cleveland. The 49ers did not have good teams the last two seasons when Hyde achieved his top-15 finishes, so whether the Browns succeed or not, Hyde should still do well in fantasy as long as he stays healthy.
Look to pick him up around the sixth or seventh round. He may be able to slip even further if your league begins picking up the unproven rookies, but feel confident in grabbing him in that sixth/seventh turn. Drafting him as your second running back is a good fit on a fantasy team, but don't bank on him turning in RB1 numbers.
