Charles Clay 2018 Outlook: To be Targeted Often in Buffalo’s Pass Attack
6 years agoThrough his first seven years in the NFL, Clay has only managed to play one full season while missing a total of 13 games. When healthy, the 29-year-old has proven to be an underrated weapon in the passing game with four seasons of at least 50 receptions and 550 yards. Not only was Clay the leading receiver for the Bills in 2017, but he also ranked second on the team in receptions and targets behind workhorse running back, LeSean McCoy. With a lackluster receiving corps led by the likes of Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones, expect Clay to be featured in the passing game often once again. Despite finishing 12th in fantasy points per game at his position a year ago, the Buffalo tight end appears to be an afterthought by many, as he is going undrafted in many standard 16-round drafts. Clay is a bargain at his current price tag, and should be considered a strong TE2 with low-end TE1 upside if he can stay healthy.
