Josh Allen 2018 Outlook: The Worst Top QB Prospect Of All Time
6 years agoI have absolutely no idea how Josh Allen is a professional football player. His ability falls somewhere between Jake Locker and Ryan Mallett. He will either be out of the league in four years or a career backup. Allen is simply terrible at playing quarterback. Every time someone tries to defend Allen, they must resort to arm strength and a couple of highlight plays. Every player makes great plays. Far more reliable are the majority of other plays that aren't so great.
Allen has shown an inability to read defenses and a tendency to always throw to his primary read, regardless of openness. Throughout his entire footballing career, he's been inaccurate. I don't just mean his two years at Wyoming, where he completed 56% of his passes. At JUCO in 2014, he completed 49% of his passes. Back in high school, he completed 59.5% of his passes in 2011, 50.8% in 2012, and 57.4% in 2013. When Allen inevitably takes over for A.J. McCarron or Nathan Peterman this season, it is going to be an unmitigated disaster. Allen has less than zero fantasy value in 2018 and is barely worth being drafted even in two QB leagues.
