Jack Flaherty Will Get the Start on Saturday
7 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals rookie starting pitcher Jack Flaherty will get the start for the Cardinals on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He'll be starting in Adam Wainwright's (elbow) turn in the rotation. Wainwright expects to be back as soon as he's eligible to come off the disabled list, but it remains to be seen if that will indeed be the case. Flaherty pitched in what should have been Wainwright's first turn in the rotation when the season started, with the rookie striking out nine in five innings while giving up just one run. Since being sent down to Triple-A, Flaherty has a 2.25 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, and 22/3 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 20 innings. He must be owned in all formats.
