Colin McHugh Will Have To Compete For Starter's Role
7 years agoHouston Astros right-hander Colin McHugh will have a tough road ahead to make it back into a suddenly crowded Astros starting rotation. McHugh missed most of last season dealing with an arm injury but made his way back to finish the regular season 5-2 with a 3.55 ERA in 12 starts. The Astros now have a wealth of starting talent, with Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole, Dallas Keuchel, Charlie Morton and Brad Peacock all in the mix. Since 2014, McHugh has a record of 36-28 but may be the odd man out once the season begins especially after the emergence of Morton in the postseason. If healthy, however, McHugh certainly has the talent to crack into the rotation and win 10-15 games with an ERA in the mid-3.00's. McHugh's spring training performances will something to monitor to better assess his fantasy value as the season approaches.
