Elvis Andrus Looks To Build Off Of Career-Best 2017
7 years agoTexas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus enjoyed a career year in 2017. The underappreciated infielder posted personal bests with 88 RBI, 100 runs, and more than double his previous best with 20 home runs. All of this stats also came while slashing .297/.337/.471. Andrus also chipped in his usual complement of stolen bases with 25. Among those positives, Andrus produced the highest HR/FB rate in his career and almost doubled his previous best at 11.6%. Andrus’ power numbers should regress in 2018, but he remains entrenched at shortstop amid a good Rangers lineup that offers plenty of opportunities for runs scored and stolen bases. Andrus represents a stable three category option at a premium position, but won’t be worth the inflated price he’ll likely command. Don’t pull the trigger until after the 10th round or so.
