Austin Hays Can Make Impact In 2018
7 years agoAlthough he was just recently drafted in 2016, Baltimore Orioles outfielder Austin Hays made his big league debut in 2017. The outfielder never appeared in Triple-A before his promotion but has been consistent at every stop in his young baseball career. Last year in A+ ball, Hays tore the cover off the ball with a .328 batting average to go along with 16 home runs and 41 RBI. That production led to his promotion to Double-A where he continued to show consistency and hit .330 with 16 home runs and 54 RBI. The Orioles saw all they needed to see and gave him 20 games to end the season and get his feet wet at the big league level. In that time he only hit .217 with one home run in 60 at-bats. That is not enough to be worried about as he has shown consistency in his brief minor league career and the level of competition was a big step up for the youngster. Hays seems to have a firm grip on the right field job in Baltimore barring an unforeseen signing or injury. His minor league track record has shown he can help in the power department as well as help with batting average. He likely will be one of the safer prospects in redraft leagues and should be owned in all dynasty and keeper leagues.
