Raisel Iglesias Will Hope For More Save Chances In 2018
7 years agoCincinnati Reds reliever Raisel Iglesias fared well as his team's closer in the 2017 season. Moved to the bullpen after 2016 due to durability issues, Iglesias went on to convert 28-of-30 save chances while posting a 3-3 record, 2.49 ERA, and 92 strikeouts in 76 innings of work. Iglesia will enter the 2018 season as the team's unquestioned closer after his strong performance in the role this past year. The 28-year-old right-hander boasted an excellent strikeout rate in 2017, averaging 10.89 per nine innings. The main knock against Iglesias in fantasy is the team he plays for. The Reds only won 68 games in 2017 and they aren't expected to be a very good team again this season. Iglesias only handled 30 save chances in 2017 and the lack of save chances is likely to be an issue again in 2018. Either way, Iglesias' high strikeout rate and run-prevention skills still make him a strong fantasy option when filling out your reliever corps.
