Juan Minaya To Compete For Closer Gig
7 years agoAfter dealing opening day closer David Robertson to the Yankees and losing setup man Nate Jones to season-ending surgery, Juan Minaya took over as the White Sox closer to finish off the 2017 season. With the acquisition of relief pitcher Joakim Soria, and Nate Jones expected to be ready by opening day, it is unlikely that Minaya will return to the ninth inning. He did a respectable job converting nine out of ten save chances, but for now, he is likely to only have value in leagues that use holds. There is a chance that the White Sox could move both Soria and Jones and if that were the case, Minaya may get another look in the ninth inning.
