Alex Reyes Looking to Come Back Strong After Tommy John Surgery
7 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Alex Reyes is hoping for a strong 2018 season after missing all of 2017 while recovering from Tommy John Surgery. As long as everything goes well in his recovery, he is expected to be ready to pitch for the Cardinals at the beginning of May. He is reportedly lost 10-15 pounds, but his injury history has left his spot in the Cardinals rotation in flux. In a small sample, Reyes dominated major league hitters in 2016. He tossed only 46 innings, but posted a 1.57 ERA to go with 10.17 K/9. He had strong minor league numbers too, leading him to be the number one prospect in the Cardinals system and the number six prospect in baseball overall. He comes with plenty of risk this season, especially considering that we do not know if he is a starter or a reliever, but there's plenty of upside here and Reyes is certainly worth taking a chance on in the later rounds.
