Luke Weaver Looks to Build On a Strong Rookie Season
7 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Luke Weaver had a strong rookie season in 2017, but he'll hope for even more success in 2018. This coming season will be Weaver's first full year in the big league rotation. He's never pitched more than the 138 innings he pitched last year (major and minor leagues combined), so he's reportedly put on some weight this offseason to try to keep from wearing down. He posted an impressive 7-2 record with a 3.88 ERA last season to go with 10.74 K/9. While Weaver still has things to learn and room to grow, his 3.17/2.93 FIP/xFIP last season both show that he's already doing quite well. There is some hype around Weaver right now, but he should still be able to be had at a decent price at least in leagues that draft early in the spring.
