Miguel Cabrera Looks To Bounce Back In 2018
7 years agoDetroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera limped through the 2017 season with his worst year ever, notching a weak .249 average with just 16 homers and 60 RBI. Many experts believe that last season was the beginning of the end for Cabrera, an aging slugger who will turn 35 at the beginning of the upcoming campaign. But Cabrera is an interesting case, because one thing has been crystal clear throughout his career: when he is healthy, there is almost nobody better than he is. He was anything but healthy in 2017, playing through a back injury he suffered during the World Baseball Classic and appearing in just 130 games, but he's also only one year removed from a 38 HR campaign in which he hit for .956 OPS. The question has never been (and never will be) whether or not Cabrera can hit; the question is whether or not he can stay healthy. If you're willing to bet on a bounce back, target Cabrera somewhere between rounds 7 and 10 and hope for the best.
