Derek Dietrich Set Career Highs In 2017; Should Tamper Expectations In 2018
7 years agoOnce Martin Prado began the 2017 season on the disabled list, it was time for Miami Marlins infielder Derek Dietrich to fill in at third base. The results were mixed, as the utility infielder finished with a weak .249 average to go with a career high 13 homers and 53 RBI. Dietrich enjoyed his best month in June where he finished with a slash line of .279/.333/.410 and eight RBI. With Martin Prado, Starlin Castro, Miguel Rojas, and J.T. Riddle also in the infield mix, it's uncertain if Dietrich will be in Miami's Opening Day lineup. While he set career highs at the plate last year, his uncertain starting status should keep him off your draft board.
