Charlie Blackmon Poised For Another Huge Season
7 years agoCharlie Blackmon is coming off an incredible season in which he finished as one of the most valuable players in both the real and fantasy game. In real life, he finished fifth in the National League MVP race, and his line of 37 home runs, 137 runs scored, 104 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases while batting .331 was astounding. His run total was the highest seen in baseball in a decade, and for those leagues who count them, Blackmon’s 14 triples were the most by any player in five years. His strikeout rate rose slightly as he shifted towards more of a power-hitting approach, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see that continue to increase a bit since his approach was so successful in 2017. This may also contribute to a continued drop in his stolen base numbers, but the power and counting stats should stay high in exchange. With almost the entire Rockies lineup returning for 2018, fantasy owners should expect Blackmon to have another stellar season at the plate. Owners should feel comfortable drafting Blackmon in the first round and should pounce if he’s still there in the second round.
