Russell Martin Likely To Match 2017 Totals
7 years agoToronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin may not produce as the household name that he once was, but he can still provide use at fantasy’s most barren position. Martin has been remarkably consistent the past two seasons, though he was limited to 91 games, a career low, due to injury in 2017. Still, he slashed .221/.343/.388 after a .231/.335/.398 line the year prior, and his counting statistics were very similar to 2016’s when prorated. Realistically, fantasy owners should expect something along the lines of 17 home runs and 50 runs scored and RBI alike, with a stolen base or two. He’ll likely finish as a backend top-12 catcher, but his proneness to extreme hot and cold streaks mean he shouldn’t be counted on each and every week throughout the fantasy season.
