Wednesday morning, The Atlanta Falcons announced they had reached a five-year contract extension with running back Devonta Freeman. The extension is worth $41.25 million with $22 million guaranteed and a $15 million signing bonus for Freeman. Freeman's contract, with its average yearly salary of $8.25 million, makes him the highest-paid running back with a multi-year contract in the NFL, though Freeman will most likely lose that distinction to Le'Veon Bell.
Even though this deal was in the works for an extended period of time, Freeman still reported to training camp during contract negotiations, and didn't hold-out of any organized team activities, much to the delight of his coacing staff and fantasy football owners. Freeman is an explosive talent on an explosive team, and now that an agreement has been reached, you can rest easy drafting Freeman accordingly.
