BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 27% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Alex Bregman, a hyped prospect who spent all of 146 games in the minors, started his Major League career with two hits and an unbelievable .071 BABIP in his first 38 at bats. Unlike many fantasy managers, his real-life skipper A.J. Hinch stuck with him, and it’s started to pay off. Since his third Major League game, Bregman’s hard hit and line drive rates have been on an upward trend. His numbers are finally beginning to reflect the hitting prowess that fueled his quick rise through the Astros’ farm system; over his last ten games, Bregman has hit .295 with five doubles and his long-awaited first Major League home run. A strikeout rate of 24.4% is higher than expected given his minor league rate of 11.6%, but a dwindling O-swing% shows that he’s adjusting to big league pitching. With Yulieski Gurriel expected to join the Astros soon, Bregman’s recent performance could be cementing his place as the #2 hitter in the Houston lineup. Given his early struggles, it’s understandable if he was dropped in 12 team leagues, but now may be the time to pick him up as his luck turns around and he helps the Astros fight for a playoff spot.
